# How to get field values from a parent object

**Hi everyone!**  
When creating a contract from a commercial proposal, I need to add to the contract’s _extra fields_ some values that are not present by default in the contract but do exist in the proposal — for example, **payment method** and **delivery method**.

These values are required for my ODT template. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any similar discussion on the forum.

Extra fields’ data are transferred from one object to another without any issues, but I can’t figure out how to get a **core (standard) field’s value** and assign it to an **extra field** in the new object.

I do not use this functionality myself. I believe that you can du a “computation” on an extrafield, and I suppose that could be used to fetch the value of the standard core field.
