Which module will generate purchase order automatically when sales order is created?
I don’t carry inventory. When I receive a sales order, I need Dolibarr send out a purchase order automatically. How do I do that?
Please help. Thank you so very much.

@roberthpchao, **A good way to handle this in Dolibarr is to automate the Sales Order → Purchase Order workflow rather than manually creating the PO each time.**

If you don’t carry inventory and your process is essentially **“customer places an order → I purchase the items from my supplier”** , Dolibarr can support this workflow, but the exact setup depends on your Dolibarr version and how your products/suppliers are configured.

A typical approach is:

**Customer Sales Order → Supplier/Product matching → Purchase Order → Supplier**

You can use Dolibarr’s **Commercial/Orders and Procurement modules** , and for fully automatic PO creation, you may need a **module, trigger, or small custom development** depending on your requirements.

For example, when a Sales Order is validated, an automation can:

1. Identify the products on the Sales Order.

2. Find the preferred supplier for each product.

3. Determine the required quantities.

4. Create a draft Purchase Order for the supplier.

5. Send it for review or automatically validate/send it, depending on your approval process.

I would **not recommend automatically sending the PO to the supplier without a review step** at first. A safer workflow is:

**Sales Order → Automatically create Draft PO → Human reviews → Validate/Send PO**

If you’re processing a high volume of orders, this is also a good candidate for API/trigger-based automation.

If you share your **Dolibarr version** and whether you have **one supplier per product or multiple suppliers** , I can show you the exact configuration/workflow to achieve this.
