Hello everyone,
I am seeking advice on the best approach to organize products in our new storage facility using Dolibarr.
Here is the context: we have recently set up a new storage facility for products/SKUs that are sold online and shipped out directly (no production involved). Our storage is equipped with shelves and boxes.
Current Workflow:
- The employee receives the shipping slip with all the parts that have been ordered (SKU number and description).
- The main challenge for the employee is to find the correct position of the products in the storage facility. At the moment the SKUs are found by training (and experience) … but it is obviously not ideal
I am considering a location notation on the shipping slip that reads something like this:
- A1 (Aisle)
- P5 (Position)
- S2 (Shelf)
- B1 (Box)
For example, the notation could be A1.P5.S2.B1.
Questions:
- How should this be implemented in Dolibarr?
- Should we use an extra field specifically for the location notation?
- Can we use an existing field (e.g., SKU field plus location)?
- Would integrating QR or bar codes be beneficial in this case? I am not sure if QR or bar codes would help to find the SKU more efficiently. The employee needs the coordinates on the packaging slip.
Any insights or suggestions from those who have dealt with similar setups would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your help.
Chris
