Email attached files

Hello,

We are working on Dolibarr version 18, and whenever we want to send an email, the attached document (invoice or proposal) won’t attach.

Any help?

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Compose Email:
  • Open your email application and start composing a new email. It’s like writing a letter.
  1. Look for Attachment Option:
  • Find a paperclip icon or an “Attach” option in your email tool. This is where you attach files, like adding papers to your envelope.
  1. Click Attach or Paperclip:
  • Click on the “Attach” option. It’s similar to putting a paperclip on your documents.
  1. Select Files:
  • A window will pop up asking you to choose files. Navigate to the location of your files (documents, pictures, etc.) and select them. It’s like placing your papers into the envelope.
  1. Attach Files:
  • Click “Attach” or “Open.” This is like sealing your envelope with the attached documents inside.
  1. Finish Composing Email:
  • Continue writing your email if you haven’t finished. Your attached files are like the documents inside your sealed envelope.
  1. Send Email:
  • Once your email is ready, click “Send.” This is equivalent to mailing your sealed envelope with the attached files.

Hi Everyone,

First, my apologies for dredging up an old topic to post. I’m having a day where I’m stuck on what I think are simple things .. and I’ve registered and can’t find a “new topic” button anywhere. This is the closest topic to my question.

We have a new install of Dolibarr (v 22) and are planning to use it to manage a fundraising round. As I get ready to do some testing, I’m finding no way to attach a file to an email. Everything in the documentation and on the web tells me we should be able to upload and attach files from the local system, but there is no button or paperclip to do so. I’ve tried to attach a screen shot, but as a new user, I apparently can’t do that.

I’m certain I’m stuck on something really silly. I’ve scoured the module settings, and the same situation exists for general users and super admin. No button by the file list, no paperclip in the editor. Do I need a separate module to enable this functionality? It really seems I have a setting that’s turned off somewhere.

Any and all help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

@jonbendtsen This is from “Third Parties” where you can pick one or more contacts and then in the action pull down choose “Send by Email” .. it brings up this interface, which we want to use to start reaching out to contacts from within Dolibarr.

Not many .. just trying to use the CRM side for now.

I can’t see anything anywhere that represents an “Email Module” .. which I suspect would have more settings.

I will say that sending works fine. The SMTP setup is clean and we can email out.

what about the documents module?

Yes, that is installed / activated and enabled for all users. I’ve uploaded test files to that, but find no way to select them for attachment.

I will say that we’ve discovered that if we go into a single Third Party and pick “send email” from there, then the “Pick Files to Attach” functions as expected.

So my challenge is in doing batch email to multiple third parties (from within the 3rd party module), I don’t appear to have the option to add or select files for attachment. To me, this is an essential function for a CRM, and the email dialog appears to have the spot for it, just no button to select / attach.

If you use instead the e-mail campaign under tools, there is an option to attach files and to do a fine grained selection of recipients.

Module e-mail campaigns must be activated and attachment functionality is a bit hidden - create the basic mail first, then go again into edit mode and there you can attache files.

what you are describing sounds like the Mass-Emails Module.
At this standard module you an select/filter your third parties and run e-mail campaigns.

Hi everyone, I think this is getting me closer. The “mass emails” concept was helpful also. Perhaps I’m trying to go at this the wrong direction. What I have been trying to do is use the Third Party module to search and limit parties to the group I want to email .. and then picking email at the top.

It works great to send basic emails, but the attachment button just isn’t there. What @jonbendtsen shows also works for me, but it’s a single point email.

I’m working to try and understand the “Mass Email” module, but as I’m currently configured, it doesn’t give me the best control over how to sort and pick who the email is going to .. which Third Parties does.

Appreciate all the feedback, I’ll report back to what I find out shortly.

just as a hint: I am using TAGs to filter. So same of my contacts having the TAG: “NEWSLETTER”.
Within the Mass E-Mail Module you can select that TAG and have all that contacts as a recipient.

But this is only one way to filter. there is multiple others that work very well.
