Email template "date format" used in __DATE_DUE_YMD__

We have been trying to use DATE_DUE_YMD which does appear to place the date, how can this date format be changed (for this specific use area).

Is this date format the only one driven by the PHP script you highlighted? (so if its changed here will ALL dates take the same format through out the whole of Dolibarr?)

I assume there is no way to format the date just for this email (possible in dictionaries?)
