Fulltext search on documents in DMS area

Hello @all,

this is my english version of the original thread in the German Dolibarr forum. I have posted it there now over 2 weeks ago without any reply.

Right now I’m testing Dolibarr. So far it looks good, easy to use and it seems to have all functions we require.

The only thing I’m missing, or I can’t find is a proper search function for uploaded documents in the DMS area.

How can I search for file names or file content?
Is Dolibarr able to build a full text index (OCR) of e.g. uploaded PDF files?

The search function on the left only let’s my search for e.g. customers and the related documents.

In the “manual hierarchy” I can’t search at all. I only see the folders I’ve created. When I open one of the folders I see the documents I’ve uploaded there.

Has anyone an idea on how to achieve this proper search function or full text index?

I remember seeing an external module ‘search everywhere’ which pulled all sorts of documents. https://www.dolistore.com/en/modules/553-Search-everywhere.html

I don’t think that searches for pdf files, I’m not sure.

I am not sure if any OCR facility exists in Dolibarr.

I think there is also a module for ‘doctags’ which lets you tag the documents. https://www.dolistore.com/en/modules/435-Document-Tags.html
