How to reduce packaging box count when a sales order is shipped?

Hi Guys, i’m using dolibarr for regular ecommerce operations. We do re-packaging/bottling of consumable items inhouse (using MRP/BOM here), and ship out finished products to clients directly (Sales order → Shipment), or via Amazon FBA. While we serve orders directly to clients, we use packing material as well, like a corrugated box / bubble pouches. I’m unable to figure out, how do we keep a track on the inventory levels of these packing materials? We want a way to reduce the stock count of these boxes as we direct dispatch orders to our clients. (could be different size boxes, based upon how many items are included in each sales order) . Any help would be much appreciated. Regards

I believe that the only solution is to develop (or have third parties develop) a module which, depending on a range of pieces to be shipped, decreases the stock of a specific “box product”

Hi,

A simple way is to add your boxes and other packing materials as stock items in Dolibarr. Then, reduce their stock when you prepare or ship an order.

If you use different box sizes for different orders, you may need to update the stock manually, as Dolibarr doesn’t automatically deduct packaging materials during shipment by default.
