How to use Dolibarr for olive oil?

Hi,
We have a small farm and we collect olives and send it to a press then it is stored in bulk
When we sell olive oil we sell it in bottles with different volumes: 1 liter, 750 ml, 500ml, and 250 ml

Now, I have added the different varieties and volumes to dolibarr as products but when I add the olive oil I want to add it in bulk, and when I sell a 250ml olive oil bottle that 250 ml is subtracted from the total bulk that I have entered. how can I do this?

You can use BOM and Manufacturing modules.

  1. You add “Olive oil” as a “raw material”
  2. Then, in BOM you can make receipts i.e. produce 1pc of 250ml bottle product using 250ml raw material
  3. With manufacturing, you can create the finished product (250ml bottle) and the appropriate amount of raw product (olive oil) will be substracted

This way, you can manage the stock of a raw product and how many finished (bottled) products you have

Here is what I did and please correct me if I’m wrong or there is a simpler way. (also to help anybody in need of such information)

  1. I created olive oil bulk as products
  2. I created different empty bottle sizes as products
  3. I created the final products with different volumes (eg: 250ml, 500ml, etc…)
  4. I created vendors
  5. I bought the olive oil and bottles from the vendors using vendor invoices.
  6. I created a Bill of materials (BOM) containing olive oil bulk + empty bottles
  7. I created manufacturing orders which converts empty bottles and bulk olive oil to final products (sellable olive oil bottles).
  8. I sell olive oil bottles using customer invoices.

It’s a long journey. So, any comments?

This is the correct way. From now on, you just have to generate finished (bottled products) whenever you need them i.e. create manufacturing order
