No stock for shipment

Hello,
my customer ordered one stock item from me. I’ve made him an sales order (order confirmation) and that deducted my stock from 1 to 0. Now, when I try to ship this item (create shipment sheet) it say’s I have no stock and it can’t be done. What am I doing wrong? How can I resolve this?

P.S. I have version 11.0.3.

I think you should go in the configuration of the stock module to properly define the rules of increase/decrease based on your workflow. With your description, it is probably defined as “Decrease stock upon order validation”, and you may want to switch to “Decrease upon shipment validation”.

In between, you may apply manual movements to correct your stock and allow your shipment…

I have checked and would actually like to leave it on “Decrease real stocks on validation of sales order”. That way the product is reserved for a customer who made the order. In any other setting I could be offering a second customer the same product because it still shows I have it on stock.

If I’m thinking right it seems that Dolibarr is trying to decrease stock for the second time when creating shipment sheet. How to get on top of this?

What about virtual stocks ? These take care of what you have put on validated customer orders. I think the option to decrease stocks on sales order validation is valid when you don’t make shipping cards (or only occasionnally). If your workflow is based on editing shipments cards, which is probably the right way to do it, then change the option for stock decrease and check virtual stocks to ensure product availability.
