Product Unit Type

Hello,

i haven’t found so far where or if i can add the unit type of a product KG/Liter/each, and so on. Would someone please be so kind and make an old man more wise ??

thanks in advance

William

I think you should find this in the product properties. I don’t have dolibarr right now in front of me. See Config and in case add it in the dictionaries.

Hello Saxa, thanks for your reply, i havent found in the dictionaries where i could add this. I can add the Unit Type as an complementary attribute ( also known as ‘custom fields’) but i can not use them in any form(order, proposal, invoice). In my opinion this is a basic feature in any ERP Software and often a legal requisition as yuo should know if you buy 1 Oil, 1 Liter Oil and so on

To be honest I never noticed this, but I can’t find it.

Hello,

Unfortunally the units a not coming from dictionnary but are hard coded… I know it’s bad. May be in future release, but I didn’t see wish on that in Doliforge.

Regards

Ok , but if you think this is really a big limit for Dolibarr, not all products are in pieces, he gave a nice example of liters.

It’s quite simple. Let’s take tea, by example. We import it to Asia in 1kg packs and in 100 gr packs For the customs it is necessary to know the unit, is it 1piece or 1 Kg ? When you are buying milk in the supermarket , do you buy 1 Milk or 1liter milk ?
I am dealing with ERP Software since 20 years and as far as I remember Dolibarr is the only one which comes without it.
I really like Dolibarr but it has some not easy to understanding limitations.

Have a nice day

To display weight unit on invoice PDF you can try this module :http://www.dolistore.com/lang-fr/crm-gestion-relation-client/208-Facture-avec-poids.html
But i don’t really understand the problem, in your tea exemple, you create the product TeaBox(100*10g) with a weight of 1 kg. For the bottle of milk you said 1 dm3(l) in volume.
I think the point is more “where” this information is displayed. Actually it’s only in porduct form.

Yes the easiest solution is to create multiple products for different sizes. Not ideal, but it works.

The easiest Solution is to create an aditional field for this, this is no problem, but it cant be displayed in any form.
We selling mainly teas and essential oils. Tea can be in 100gr packages or 1 Kg packages, but it can also come in 5,10, 25, 50, 100 KG packing, but 50 KG Tea is not the same as 50x1Kg tea. So we would have to make for every possible packing a different product. There are about 330 different oils and 280 different teas, so we need to mantain 7x610 products ( think on the supplier prices) only for these two product groups.

Not to mention the trouble with the customs when you mention 50x1Kg tea on the invoice but they only can find 1x50Kg, these guys arent as flexible as we are. It would help if there would be possibility to use the additional fields for using in the libreoffice templates.

have a great day

Yes, I agree with you, for customs purposes, many times in different countries is very very differently treated. But yes, customs everywhere do not like doubts, so declaring something that is different from the reality is a pain.
